new year new job

I drive a taxi now. Yeah a taxi. After not working for 8 months, I went full throttle this weekend.
Friday - Rode rode 3.5 hours and worked 13. 2pm - 3am
Saturday - Rode 4.25 hours and worked 13. 3pm - 4am

Work pretty much consists of listening to NPR and driving around people who are socially responsible enough to not drink and drive from bar to bar. Oh and trying to explain that I SERIOUSLY, dont know where to get any blow. My car last night had 322,000 miles on it. I added about 400. Its addicting. I just want to keep driving, I forget to eat and drink - just get into this weird zone of going going going. One more fare. One more fare. One more...
Rule of thumb: if you have enough cash on you to buy one of the houses around you outright, you should call it a night. That was me in Braddock last night at 330am.

Now there is irony. You drive a car of a living.

You should paint big X's on your cab, just to let people know that you don't know where the blow is.

There's a hilarious Chris Rock skit where he drives a cab. In one scene he just whimpers, sips from a bottle and talks about his wife leaving.

Which was worse, the Chew ride or yesterday?

So when are you becoming a real estate agent?

When someone gets in your cab and says "show me the 13 steepest hills in Pittsburgh... and step on it," Let me know.

How can this be...resist the urge and look away from the darkside Steevo

One I have looked up to for staying pure, one of the very few in Pittsburgh who was truly carbon neutral is now driving a cab, no, no, no...that kinda sucks

How about some good taxi cab confessions steevo.LOL.

Serious question. Steevo has clearly bummed a ride once or twice. He didn't get to be a cat 2 racing locally.

Now he makes a living driving a cab.

How was Steevo carbon neutral while bumming rides but now *not* carbon neutral by carting people around? (they're basically bumming a ride too)

Now really, you should be able to figure that one out on your own...of course, none of us are really carbon neutral, but Steevo wins the prize along with a few others locally.

If it means anything I dont use the cab for any of my own errands, or to drive amy anyhwere! haha

C'mon Mayhew, Steevo's the man in this arena... I got chunks of carbon in my stool bigger than what he burned all of last year!

PS, did ya get the operation Iraqi freedom t-shirt that I sent to Kirby yet?

Kirby who?

Oh, I guess he hasn't been riding much lately with his efforts to overthrow the government. Yea, I sent him a Kuwait starbucks mug and t-shirt just for you. I'm sure he won't want either of those items.

You know Jan Wiejak drove a taxi in NYC when he raced at a really high level for Scott in the early-mid 1990s.
